region
A region with a strong identity
This detached property is located on the outskirts of the village of St. Jean d’Eyraud (Périgord Pourpre) in the Department of the Dordogne, part of the Aquitaine region. The Department of the Dordogne is rich in remarkable sites and known for its unspoilt natural landscape and its multi-faceted history, culture and gastronomy.
The four areas of the Périgord are:
  • the Périgord Noir (the land of prehistoric sites and gastronomy),
  • the Périgord Vert (the land of forests and grasslands),
  • the Périgord Blanc (the land of limestone plateaux and wide valleys),
  • and the Périgord Pourpre (the land of vineyards and chateaux).

At the heart of a department of great diversity
The village of St. Jean d’Eyraud has a church and Mairie. Two kms away is a restaurant and bar, and five kms is a primary school, doctor’s surgery, bakery, post office and hairdresser. The nearest hospital is in Bergerac. Bergerac has a twice-weekly market. Here can be found primary and secondary schools, a wide range of shops, including independent boutiques, and numerous hotels, restaurants and bars.
The surrounding countryside of the property consists of wooded hills and fields with footpaths and bridleways, immediately accessible from the house.
The property benefits from peaceful and unspoiled natural surroundings, without being isolated.

The airport of Bergerac (with its daily flights to Paris and the UK, and seasonal flights to Rotterdam and Brussels), is 20 minutes by car. There is a mainline station with rail services to Bordeaux (approx. one hour) and Paris (approx. three hours).
